Legacy Love Letter
Over the years, we’ve helped many families cope after the loss of a loved one. We’ve used this experience to create a valuable
tool that brings peace, comfort, and answers during difficult times. All of our clients have access to this tool –
their LEGACY LOVE LETTER.
This important tool is a living, breathing, editable document that can be kept in paper or electronic format. Driven by the
account data that our aggregation tools keep current via our financial planning process, it’s designed to
capture not only the whereabouts of your financial accounts, but the things you would want your immediate
family to be aware of should you be unable to tell them yourself. Regularly updated, the Legacy Love Letter is yours to
keep in a safe place. Your advisor will ask where you keep it and file a note regarding its whereabouts. We’ll know where your family should look in case a family member you’ve authorized contacts us after you pass away or become incapacitated.
Everyone should have an estate plan, and the Legacy Love Letter is only for those clients who have completed theirs. However, as anyone who has experienced a death or incapacitation of a family member knows, these documents don’t offer much relief or support in the hours and days following a life-ending or life-changing event. Questions immediately arise and even if the whereabouts of estate documents are known – they will not be written in our loved one’s words. Filled with legalese, they may leave time sensitive questions unanswered. Family is often left pining for one last conversation where they could ask important questions such as:
- Do you want someone special to speak at/arrange your funeral services?
- Where do you keep financial records?
- Do you want to be buried or cremated? Open or closed casket?
- Who is your financial advisor?
- Who is your accountant?
- Are there important people in your life you want them to know about?
- Where can they find your fully executed estate documents?
- How do you want them to handle the situation?
Contact us about completing a Legacy Love Letter today, and leave those close to you better equipped following your death or incapacitation.
