Who we work with

Most people reach out in the middle of a transition.

The decisions that bring people to us tend to be large, interconnected and hard to undo. These are the situations we see most often.

1
Approaching retirement

You have saved diligently and now need to know whether it actually works — when you can stop, how much you can spend, which account the money should come from first, and what the tax bill looks like across the next thirty years rather than the next twelve months.

2
Business owners

Your personal balance sheet and your company’s are entangled. We coordinate with your CPA and attorney on retirement plan design, tax strategy, and what eventually happens when you sell, transition or wind down.

3
Executives with equity compensation

RSUs, ISOs, NQSOs and deferred comp create concentration risk and tax consequences that arrive whether or not you planned for them. We build a schedule for what to hold, what to sell and when.

4
Navigating a divorce

Settlement options that look equivalent on paper are often not equivalent after tax. We model what each one actually means over time, and then help rebuild the plan on the other side of it.

5
Companies sponsoring a retirement plan

You want a fiduciary partner on plan design and investment selection, and you want your employees to actually understand the benefit they are being offered. That is what our LaunchEd program was built for.

6
Early-career professionals building toward it

Physicians finishing training, attorneys approaching partnership, founders whose net worth is still mostly in the company. Legacy Next is our service for people on a clear trajectory who are not yet at our standard minimum.

An honest filter

Are we the right firm for you?

We would rather be direct than waste an hour of your time and ours. Here is where we do our best work, and where another advisor would genuinely serve you better.

We are probably the right firm if…

You want an ongoing relationship with an advisor who knows your whole financial picture, not a one-time report you file away.

Most of our clients come to us with $500,000 or more in investable assets. If you are near that range, we’d love to speak with you.

Your situation has moving parts — equity compensation, a business, several account types, a retirement date, a concentrated position.

You want tax-aware planning, with investment decisions coordinated against the rest of your financial life rather than run in a separate lane.

You want a fiduciary who is paid by you and by no one else, and you would like to be able to verify that claim.

You are ready to delegate the day-to-day and spend your attention somewhere else.

We are probably not the right firm if…

Debt reduction or credit counseling is your primary need. That work matters enormously, and it is not what we do. A nonprofit credit counseling agency or a planner who specializes in cash-flow coaching will serve you far better than we would.

You want stock picks, market timing or to direct the trades yourself. We build disciplined, evidence-based portfolios and deliberately avoid investment fads. If managing your own money is something you enjoy, you will find our approach too patient for your taste.

You are looking for one-time or hourly project work. Our planning compounds over years of working together, and we are structured around ongoing relationships rather than single engagements. We do not bill hourly or take one-off projects.

Below the minimum, but clearly on your way? Tell us anyway. Legacy Next exists for people who are not yet at our standard threshold but are on an obvious trajectory — work with a CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER® professional rather than an algorithm, and discounted pricing that carries over when you graduate to our full platform. We accept a limited number of Legacy Next clients each year.

You do not have to take our word for any of this. Look us up on the SEC’s public database at adviserinfo.sec.gov, where our Form ADV lists our services, our fees, our conflicts of interest and any disciplinary history. It takes about two minutes, it is free, and you should do it for every firm you consider.

What happens next

Four steps, and you can stop at any one of them.

Nobody at this firm is on a sales quota, because there is nothing here to sell. Here is the actual sequence.

01
A friendly conversation

About thirty minutes by phone or video. You tell us what prompted you to call; we answer your questions about how we work and what we charge. No cost, no obligation.

02
A closer look

If it makes sense to continue, we meet again — in Overland Park or by video — to walk through your goals, accounts, and timeline, and show you specifically what we would address first.

03
A clear proposal

You see our recommendations and our exact fee in writing before you decide anything. Most people take time to think it over. That is normal and we expect it.

04
Your decision

If we are a fit, we begin. If we are not, we will say so plainly and point you toward someone better suited. Either way you will not hear from us again unless you ask.

Before you reach out

Questions people ask us first.

If yours is not here, call and ask it. We would rather answer it now than have it sit in the back of your mind.

Most of our wealth management clients come to us with $500,000 or more in investable assets. It is a description of who we typically serve rather than a hard gate, and complexity matters as much as the number — a business owner with a pending sale may be a better fit than a larger but simpler portfolio.

If you are meaningfully below that and building toward it as a high income accumulator, Legacy Next was designed for exactly that situation.

Nothing, and there is no obligation attached to it. We offer it because some of the people who have it decide they want to work with us, and the ones who do not still leave better informed than they arrived.

By our clients, and by no one else. We are a fee-only firm, typically compensated through a fee on the assets we manage, with flat-fee planning available for certain non-investment advice related engagements. We accept no commissions, no revenue sharing and no compensation from fund companies or product sponsors. We have no proprietary products, no insurance contracts and no sales quotas.

Our full fee schedule is disclosed in our Form ADV Part 2A, which you can read before you ever speak to us.

Yes. Our office is in Overland Park and a good share of our clients are in Johnson County, Leawood, Olathe, Lenexa, Prairie Village and across the state line in Missouri. We also work with clients throughout the country by video, including people who started with us here and later moved away.

No. Nothing transfers and nothing opens as a result of a conversation. If we do eventually work together, client assets are held at Charles Schwab as an independent custodian — your advisor advises, and a separate institution safeguards the money.

Often, yes — particularly if you have never seen your all-in costs added up, or if your situation has changed materially since you hired them. Plenty of the arrangements we look at are sound, and we say so when that is true. What we will always do is show you the costs, the conflicts and the tax consequences we find, and let you draw your own conclusion.

Account numbers, Social Security numbers, dates of birth, passwords or account statements. This form and ordinary email are not secure channels. Once we are in touch we will send you a secure upload link for anything sensitive.

Search for Legacy Financial Strategies, LLC on the SEC’s Investment Adviser Public Disclosure site at adviserinfo.sec.gov. You will find our Form ADV, which discloses our services, our fees, our conflicts of interest and any disciplinary history. You can run the same search on any firm you are considering, and you should.
