Managing Principal/CEO/Financial Advisor
Mike joined Legacy in 2014 as Legacy’s second CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER™ practitioner. As one of Legacy’s acting Principals, he draws on nearly 20 years of experience in Financial Planning. A 2001 graduate of Seton Hall University, Mike’s background and education is atypical for most financial experts. Because of his interest in what makes us all behave as we do, he majored in social & behavioral science. A lifelong athlete, he also captained the baseball team, leading the Pirates to a Big East Championship his senior year. While in school, he met his future wife, Erica, also a Seton Hall athlete. After graduation, his interest in human behavior and its effects on financial decisions led him to a career in financial planning.
After 4 years on the east coast, he and Erica decided to relocate to her hometown of Kansas City. Afterward, Mike continued developing his skills, earning the CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER™ designation from the College of Financial Planning in 2010. Active in the Kansas City community, he served on the Board of Directors of the Financial Planning Association of Greater KC from 2016-2020. He is also a member of the National Association of Personal Financial Advisors. Mike’s specialty is helping divorcees through the process of regrouping and maintaining a sense of control. As a Certified Divorce Financial Analyst (CDFA®), and a member of the Institute for Divorce Financial Analysts, he works closely with legal professionals to assist in the more complex financial decisions that need to be made during and after divorce. When he’s out of the office, he enjoys playing golf, watching the Chiefs & Royals, and spending quality time with Erica and their two children, Kate & Jack.
