Mike joined Legacy Financial Strategies in 2014 as the firm’s second CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER™ practitioner and now serves as its managing principal. With over 23 years of experience in financial planning, he brings a thoughtful, personalized approach to helping clients achieve financial security and success.
Mike grew up in the New York Metropolitan area and attended Seton Hall University on a baseball scholarship. During his time there, he met his wife, Erica, a Kansas City native and fellow student-athlete. His journey into financial services began in a dorm room in 1999, when he purchased his first stock with $50—it didn’t go well, but it sparked a passion that reshaped his career path. As the son of two middle school teachers, Mike originally hadn’t considered a future in business or finance. He studied social and behavioral sciences due to his interest in human behavior. When professional baseball didn’t pan out, he found a calling in financial services, a field where he could combine his interests in understanding people with helping them navigate pivotal financial decisions.
In 2010, Mike earned the CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER™ designation from the College for Financial Planning. He served on the Board of Directors for the Financial Planning Association of Greater Kansas City from 2016 to 2020 and is a member of the National Association of Personal Financial Advisors. He also holds the Certified Divorce Financial Analyst® designation and specializes in assisting divorcees with the complex financial decisions surrounding divorce, working closely with legal professionals.
Recently, Mike became a mentor in the Helzberg Entrepreneurial Mentoring Program (HEMP) in Kansas City, where he helps guide and inspire the next generation of entrepreneurs and business professionals.
When not in the office, Mike enjoys playing golf, cheering on the Chiefs and Royals, and spending time with his wife Erica and their two children, Kate and Jack.
