Mike joined Legacy Financial Strategies in 2014 as the firm’s second CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER®practitioner and has since taken on the role of Managing Principal. With over 24 years of experience in financial planning, he brings a thoughtful, personalized approach to helping clients achieve financial security and success.
A graduate of Seton Hall University, Mike attended on a baseball scholarship, where he also met his wife, Erica—a fellow student-athlete and Kansas City native. In 2010, he earned his CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER® designation from the College for Financial Planning and later became a Certified Divorce Financial Analyst® (CDFA®), specializing in helping individuals navigate the financial complexities of divorce.
His journey into finance began in his college dorm room in 1999, when he used $50 to buy his first stock—it didn’t go well, but it sparked a passion that changed his career path. Growing up in the New York Metropolitan area as the son of two middle school teachers, Mike initially pursued social and behavioral sciences, drawn to his deep interest in human behavior. But when professional baseball didn’t pan out, he found his true calling in financial services—a career where he could combine his love for understanding people with helping them make pivotal financial decisions.
Mike is passionate about giving back to the financial and business communities. He served on the Board of Directors for the Financial Planning Association of Greater Kansas City from 2016 to 2020, is a member of the National Association of Personal Financial Advisors (NAPFA), and is a mentor in the Helzberg Entrepreneurial Mentoring Program (HEMP), guiding and inspiring the next generation of entrepreneurs and business leaders.
Outside of work, Mike is a dedicated sports fan, cheering on the Chiefs and Royals whenever he’s not on the golf course. But his favorite way to spend time is with his wife, Erica, and their two children, Kate and Jack—whether it’s enjoying family adventures or coaching them through life’s next big play.
