CEO, Managing Principal & Financial Advisor
Mike joined Legacy in 2014 as Legacy’s second CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER™ practitioner. As Legacy’s managing principal, he draws on over 23 years of experience in financial planning.
Mike grew up in the New York Metropolitan area and attended Seton Hall University on a baseball scholarship. There, he’d meet his future wife Erica, a Kansas City native who was also a student athlete. He remembers buying his first stock with $50 in a teammate’s dorm room in 1999 (it didn’t go well). In retrospect, it was the spark that led him to pursue a career in financial services. The son of two middle school teachers, he’d not previously considered business or finance as a career. Instead, he studied social and behavioral science due to his lifelong interest in what makes people tick. When it became clear that professional baseball wasn’t going to work out, he found a new passion in a career that combined two of his interests while impacting the lives of others.
Mike earned the CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER™ designation from the College of Financial Planning in 2010. He served on the Board of Directors of the Financial Planning Association of Greater KC from 2016 to 2020 and is also a member of the National Association of Personal Financial Advisors.
Mike’s specialty is helping divorcees through the process of regrouping and maintaining a sense of control. As a Certified Divorce Financial Analyst® professional and a member of the Institute for Divorce Financial Analysts, he works closely with legal professionals to assist in the complex financial decisions that need to be made during and after divorce.
When Mike is out of the office, he enjoys playing golf, watching the Chiefs and Royals, and spending quality time with his wife, Erica, and their two children, Kate and Jack.
